Around Town: First Fridays
First Friday's is a Richmond event that happens every Friday year round honoring the art scene. Most of the artists are local and unexpected. This is not an event that features only paintings and photography. There is plenty of performance art, abstract, urban and apparel. Most of the art is on sale by the artists. Even if you are not very art inclined it is a very unique experience that the Richmond downtown scene has to offer that everyone should experience at least once. After the event is over many of the restaurants and bars in the area get pretty busy which can be a very fun atmosphere outside of the clubbing scene. If you haven't you already you should check it out.

Client Spotlight: New Earth VA
Every once in a while, we meet a company that really knows what they are doing. A company that will not rest until they get it right. New Earth of Virginia is one of those companies. It is difficult enough to have to work with houses that have aged significantly, but to know how to merge the past with the present so exquisitely is an accomplishment of its own. New Earth has an edge to the competition because they have a saw mill in which they treat and process wood found in the various forests of Virginia. They repurpose wood and make it custom built furniture pieces. They have been in business for many years now and it shows.

5 Marketing Tips For Businesses On A Budget
So you want your business to grow and know that marketing is important, but you don't have the capital to invest in a fancy marketing firm? Here are 5 simple tips that can help you increase leads to your business:
1. Advertising Trials
Google, Bing & Yahoo! and Facebook Ads all offer free trials to try out their services. This is a temporary way to increase business and it requires little to no investment on your part. Before using these services make sure to do your homework on how they work, they can create many leads if used correctly.
2. Blogs
Blogs are an amazing way to get the word out on your product or service. Stick to the main ones like Tumblr, Blogger, WordPress and so on. If you are having trouble creating content for your brand, then talk about topic that interests you and is relevant to your brand. Make a commentary about it and provide a link to the source. Not all content has to be original. Best of all, most of them are free and get indexed in all major search engines!

3. Facebook
Facebook deserves it's own point just because it has become a very powerful way to inform customers of sales, new products and just your online presence in general. Best of all, Facebook Pages also gets ranked in major search engines.
4. Social Media
Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn all fall in this category. Your business needs to be active in at least two of these channels if not more. It's a time commitment and big companies typically outsource this work to Marketing Agencies, however most of the content that you share can overlap and be the same. If you don't know what to post, pull up some of your favorite companies and follow their format!
5. Networking Events
There are many types of business centric networking events. A quick search on the internet will give you some ideas on the types of places that you can meet like minded individuals. The key is to find one that is related to your business, most of these "Associations" typically charge a monthly/yearly fee however it's likely that they host events that are free throughout the year to encourage memberships. They can not only help you create leads but give you some suggestions on how to operate your business more successfully.

Client Spotlight: Asurest
When you are small business owner you will need legal advice at some point. There are many options out there when you are looking for a lawyer or legal firm. If you are trying to be economical, you'll most likely go with an online legal solution. As a small business owner, I know what it is like to go through this process. Unfortunately when you are trying to build a business you can't really rely on a computer generating important documents. Websites have come a long a way from what they used to be, but a computer can't possibly cover every possible scenario when it comes legal matters. This is why it is so important to speak to an individual, whether it is over the phone or in person. So the second option is to visit a law firm. The problem that we encounter with dealing with law firms is that they can be very costly and when you're starting a new business, cost is definitely a factor to consider. Forming a new company could cost over 1k if you visit a law firm, even if they only do 5 hours of work.
Asurest is a company that is dedicated to get customers important legal documents made especially for them at a fraction of the cost. How do they manage to do this? They have pre-fabricated forms that can be easily filled out by a knowledgable lawyer. A lawyer does a telephone or in-person consultation and does an assessment of what is it that you need. He tailors the forms as needed and creates everything from: wills & estate planning, corporate formations and business consulting.
The approach that they have towards helping customers is to use the resources available to us through technology while still providing a interactive business consultation. They are fully mobile so they can visit a customer at their residence or in a mutual public space. This is cost effective and flexible because they work on your time, not theirs.
If you are a business in Richmond, VA that needs assistance forming a new corporation Asurest is the company to hire. Their phone number is: (804) 525-9924 or you can email them at info@asurest.com.

RAGGEDedge Pack Mule
"Founded in 1997 by a group of accomplished sailors with a knack for sewing, RAGGEDedge uses sailcloth, kevlar and carbon fiber to create small batches of bags and wallets in their Virginia-based workshop. With a distinct, Flywire-like look and well-documented strength, the heavy duty laminate materials lend a unique character to the brand's rugged products. We're particularly partial to the Pack Mule in carbon fiber colorway. The 112-liter, single compartment pack is secured with a double zipper and wrap-around carrying straps. The aesthetic is simple, in the best of ways."
I love that this company has a line of products that are made right here in Virginia. They are a company based out of Floyd and they seem to have their priority in craftsmanship. Their line of products has a very industrial and durable feel. If you'd like to learn more about this brand click here

What's incredible about this particular villa is that it has taken various elements from its surrounding environment and made it a part of its accommodations. Achieving design that blends in perfectly while providing comfortable lodgings is no easy task. This seems like it would be quite an amazing and immersive experience.
